Ed Monley finished 3-for-3, while John Fileccia went 2-for-3 for the Redbirds.<BR><BR>Dan Gliot, Joe Small, Scott MacDonald, Scott Misuraca and JC Zapinski all had hits for the Redbirds. Lucazk allowed no earned runs and fanned seven.<BR><BR>The Red Sox took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Sean Dobson walked, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on an error. The Redbirds responded with a run in the second inning as MacDonald reached on an error, went to third base on a double by Monley and scored on a base hit by Fileccia as the game was tied 1-1.<BR><BR>The Sox regained the lead in the third inning as Eddie Jones walked and went to third on a base hit by Matt Van de Velde. The 'Birds then tried to turn a double play with one out but the ball got away from the first baseman, allowing the run to score and the Red Sox went on top by a score of 2-1 after two innings of play.<BR><BR>The Redbirds tied the game in the third inning as Zapinski singled and Nick McIntosh came in to pinch run, stealing second and third base. Small then sacrificed him in with a long fly out to center field as the game was tied once again, 2-2.<BR><BR>The 'Birds scored the final run of the game in the fourth inning as Danny Surratt walked, moved to third base on a successful hit-and-run by MacDonald, who was thrown out trying to advance to second base as there was a runner at third with one out. The 'Birds now lead the best-of-five series 2-0.<BR><BR>Joe Small, Danny Surratt and MacDonald each drove in runs for the Redbirds. JC Zapinski finished 1-for-1, with a double and run scored, while Scott Misuraca went 1-for-2, with a sac bunt and reached base on an error.<BR><BR>The Red Sox jumped in front early with two runs in the first inning. After a single and a walk, Jon Van Son doubled down the right field line to give the Sox a 1-0 lead with runners on the corners. Miller tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out seven, while Gliot went 2-for-3, with a two-run home run.<BR><BR>Scott MacDonald and Ed Monley each finished the game 2-for-3. Joe Small, Erik Magiera, John Fileccia, Scott Misuraca and Nick McIntosh all had hits for the Redbirds. Sean Dobson led the Red Sox with a 2-for-3 night.<BR><BR>The 'Birds jumped out early 4-0 on RBI-singles by Danny Surratt and MacDonald. Monley had a bunt single in the fourth and eventually came around to score on a throwing error by the shortstop as the lead grew to 5-0.<BR><BR>Gliot smashed a two-run home run in the fifth inning to close out the scoring. Game two of the best-of-5 series will be on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. on Kyte Monroe Field A.<BR clear=all><BR>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.scsmabl.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=104">MDawson7</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> Championship Series<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 19 Aug 2011 at 8:57am<br /><br />For the second year in a row the Red Sox and Redbirds (formally the Orioles) face off for the league Championship.&nbsp; Each team finished the regular season 24-6 but the Red Sox won the season series with the Redbirds 3 games to 2 to earn the top seed in the playoffs.<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>In their second round series the Redbirds handled the Royals in two games while the Phillies took the Red Sox to a third game.</DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>In their season series with each other the Redbirds outscored the Red Sox 16 to 12 despite only winning two of the games.&nbsp; In their first meeting the Redbirds handed the Sox a 9-2 defeat.&nbsp; Game two saw the Sox come back and win 5-2.&nbsp; Game three was the Redbirds turn and won 3-0.&nbsp; Then the Sox took the fourth game 4-2 before winning the finale 1-0.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>For the season the Sox lead all teams with 216 runs scored.&nbsp; The Redbirds were second with 205.&nbsp; The Redbirds were tops in runs allowed by giving up only 67 runs and the Sox were second with 84 runs against.&nbsp; The Redbirds lead in run differential at +138 but the Sox were right behind at +132.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>With all that said this should be a good tight series that could go all five games.</DIV>]]>
